About the Authors

Mike Pearson is Professor of Performance Studies at the University of Wales Aberystwyth. For thirty years he has pioneered innovative approaches in the practice, theory, pedagogy and documentation of performance. From 1981 to 1997 he was an artistic director of the theatre company Brith Gof.

Michael Shanks is Professor of Classics and of Cultural Anthropology at Stanford University. He is one of the world’s foremost archaeological thinkers, and author of many works including Reconstructing Archaeology (1992), Experiencing the Past (1992), Classical Archaeology of Greece (1996) and Art and the Greek City State (1999).
